Discover Cotopaxi National Park
Spend a day in the páramo with time for a lakeside walk, a visit to the interpretation centre and, when conditions permit, an uphill approach toward José Rivas Refuge at 4,864 m. This is a high-altitude outing; the order of stops can change with weather and park access.
Day tour itinerary
- Depart from Quito and travel to Cotopaxi National Park.
- Visit Limpiopungo Lagoon and the Mariscal Sucre Interpretation Centre, subject to access.
- Drive to the upper parking area. If conditions and your group allow, walk toward José Rivas Refuge (4,864 m).
- Ask in advance about the optional downhill mountain-bike route toward Limpiopungo; confirm rental, availability and cost before booking.
- Enjoy the planned meal stop and return to Quito.
